Biography and Autobiography Unit

What is a biography?
Bio means life.
Graph means writing.
Biographical writing is about someone else’s life. It is about a real person but written by someone else in third person.
A A biography contains key details of a person’s life. We use our question words to help organise ideas:
Where they lived
When they lived
How they lived
What they did and why

It is written in chronological order. It can be about a living or a dead person.


A biography provides information about the important events in a person's life. 
A biography will also talk about how the person feels and the emotions they show.

What is an autobiography?
An autobiography is the writing about a person's life written by the person himself or herself. It is written in first person (pronouns such as I, me, my myself, we, us our).

Who is Jane Goodall?

What is  dilemma?
The word ‘dilemma’ is a noun that means a problem where a choice or decision has to be made. To have more than one choice might put you in a dilemma. The dilemma is the situation you are in. There is no easy choice to make.

Opening:
Character-appearance and their thoughts, personality
First hint as to what the ‘dilemma’ might be


Build up:
Who are the other characters? What are they like- appearance and personality
Who do the characters act with each other? How does the dilemma happen?

Problem:
What is the dilemma? What are the possible options?
How do the characters act during the dilemma?


Resolution:
What does the character chose to do? How does the character act when he makes his decision? How does everyone else react?

Ending:
How does this dilemma change any of the characters?
What happens after the dilemma is resolved to the characters?
